With the weather being so mild these past few weeks in Chicago, I’m thinking spring fashion! I’m loving all the patchwork, embroidery, volume and texture trending on the runways and streets. Metallic and blush pinks are still everywhere, and I love it! Also, the logo belt buckle is making a strong comeback.

A black blazer is a wardrobe staple. It pulls a look together and can easily be dressed up or down. For texture I added an oversized scarf and cinched the waist with a slim belt. I’ve been growing out my hair for a few months. I’m sticking with it, though it’s reached an awkward length. I’ve been wearing it curly and occasionally wrapping it up with silk scarves to get me through the process!

Let’s just focus on love this Valentine’s Day. Whether it’s with your honey or with your best friends, the main thing is to celebrate love and compassion – especially with the current state of affairs in the US. Last week I attended the Gucci preview highlighting the 2017 Cruise collection and a few pieces for Spring & Summer. Alessandro Michele, the creative director of Gucci describes the Cruise collection: “… a beautiful chaos, it is a powerful mix of the past and the present.” I completely agree, it’s a bold balance of classic silhouettes, vibrant colors with adornments displayed in a unique and very modern arrangement. From fur-lined slippers to hand stitched embellishments, each piece is exquisitely crafted. Gah, those tiger fur-lined slides! One of everything, please!
Talk about a statement shoe! I love this jewel and feather covered sandal from Miu Miu. This could go with anything – jeans and a tee, or a sleek cocktail dress.

Welcome to 2017! We made it, can you believe it? 2016 was quite the year for so many reasons. I’ve never been one to make new year resolutions or drastic changes at the start of the new year. Though, this year I want to slow down to enjoy the small things and focus on growth. So far, this means creating obtainable goals and writing them down – career opportunities, the direction of Taffeta and Cedar, traveling, and volunteering more, just to name a few! For me, 2017 is going to be about change! Yes, everyone always says that, but I tend to be resistant to some types of change. Hence the need for a solid goal list! What about you? I’ve always loved accessorizing with scarves. They add just the right amount of texture and interest to any look. I tied this silk scarf similar to a necktie and kept my look simple and chic. A fitted tee, wide-leg wool pants, and streamline flats for a polished look.
