I hope everyone had a Happy New Year! It’s cold and icy in Chicago, so layers and heavy knitwear are a must. I picked up this high collar sweater in Italy last week and absolutely love it! It’s been on repeat these past few days.

Black and white is a great timeless go-to look. I’m loving the clean lines and sheer details on this shirttail – a great alternative to a basic button-down. Oh, and did I mention I’m growing my hair out! I’ve had various pixie cuts for over 10 years, and now it’s time to try a short bob!

I’m generally not big into trends, but I’m loving the sleeveless knit turtlenecks and backpack bags I’m seeing everywhere this fall. These are both great staples, and will transition well into winter and even spring (if you live in Chicago, all these seasons generally feel the same). I decided on a classic pointy flat and simple accessories.

I love this popover dress I picked up a few months ago at Nordstrom Rack. The cap sleeves, v-neckline and soft silk make this an easy go-to dress for warmer weather. Since this dress has a subtle pattern, I decided on minimal accessories and classic pieces for a polished look.

With the temps getting warmer that can only mean sandals, sleeveless tees and shorts are a must! These seersucker shorts from Vince are lightweight and can easily be worn with sandals and a tee or dressed up a bit with some wedges.

Feeling casual on this busy Wednesday. I can’t think of a better way to dress down than a comfy sweatshirt, jeans and slip-on sneakers. To keep a super casual look polished, I like to have a skinny bottom with an oversized top or vice versa, never both. A slim cross body bag and oversized scarf add just the right amount of texture, warmth and functionality for an action packed day!

For classic pieces, I always shop quality over quantity. Without a doubt I’m going to wear that soft silk top, knit cashmere cardigan and classic leather bag over and over and feel great each time. I love this sleeveless shirt I just picked up at Nordstrom Rack, it’s perfect for these warm spring days and a great piece to layer under a cardigan in the fall.

Nothing is easier than a black tee and a pair of blue jeans – especially when you can decide on what you want to wear! I love the bold pop of these jeans, they look so fresh for spring and add a nice amount of color to my look.

A bit of sporty with a few polished pieces are ideal for a relaxed, yet put together look. I love combining slip-on sneakers with structured pieces; hence my love of basics. And you can never go wrong with a comfy pair of shoes!
