The main purpose of the Grand Trianon was to provide an escape from daily court life at Versailles. King Louis XIV ordered reconstruction on the current palace in 1687, as the porcelain on the first palace was disintegrating. The structure we see here, is twice the size and made of beautiful pink marble. Just like Versailles, the Grand Trianon is surrounded by beautiful gardens and forests.
