While I love summer and it’s my favorite time of year, I do look forward to wearing layers as the weather cools down. I picked up this leather jacket a few weeks ago when I was in Bruges, Belgium. I’ve been looking for a leather jacket for awhile and unexpectedly found this one when out shopping one afternoon. I love the clean lines and subtle texture; it’s easily dressed up or down with jeans and heels or boots. What are some of you favorite go-to pieces in-between seasons?

A few items to make that transition from summer into fall weather a little less painful! I’m loving all the belt bags, square-toe shoes, and animal print I’m seeing everywhere this season. Layers and texture are key to staying warm and looking polished in crisp temperatures. I selected a variety of versatile pieces that will carry from season to season, plus a few trends to add into the mix this year. You know, quality over quantity! You can never go wrong with a black sweater, or have too many of them. Because they all look so different! Seriously, every above sweater is unique from the next. Whether it be the knit, cut, fabric, etc. I also love the option of wearing a sweater with jeans and sneakers, and then easily dressing up the same with a pair of heels and leather pants. Boom, completely versatile and an entirely different look. I’ve selected a few sweaters that I have my eye on and would love to add into my fall/winter wardrobe!

I’ve always loved accessorizing with scarves. They add just the right amount of texture and interest to any look. I tied this silk scarf similar to a necktie and kept my look simple and chic. A fitted tee, wide-leg wool pants, and streamline flats for a polished look.

We had some really cold temps this past weekend in Chicago. Cold enough to get out my puffer coat and warmer layers. For this look, I kept it classic with dark colors and elevated basics. You can never go wrong with cozy turtlenecks, boots, and extra-warm layers when you live in the Midwest!

It’s been a pretty mild fall in Chicago – warmer temps and there are still green leaves on the trees! I’ve been able to layer different knits and I’ve just started wearing boots and sweaters. I love the large knit and texture of this sweater from IRO. It’s just the right amount of warmth, and look at those extra long sleeves! What are some of your favorite knits and sweaters this season?

If you haven’t noticed, black is my favorite color to wear. It’s classic, effortless and chic. I enjoy seeing color, just not wearing it. I picked up this frayed blazer a few weeks ago to add to my collection of black jackets and blazers…becasue they all look completely different. Seriously, they do! I feel like this will be a fall favorite and I can’t wait to layer it over some heavier knitwear.
