While I love summer and it’s my favorite time of year, I do look forward to wearing layers as the weather cools down. I picked up this leather jacket a few weeks ago when I was in Bruges, Belgium. I’ve been looking for a leather jacket for awhile and unexpectedly found this one when out shopping one afternoon. I love the clean lines and subtle texture; it’s easily dressed up or down with jeans and heels or boots. What are some of you favorite go-to pieces in-between seasons?

The Polar Vortex is back with extra frigid temperatures in most of the Midwest. In Chicago, we had a low of -21°F/-49°F wind chill Wednesday morning. As mentioned here and here, owning a down parka is an absolute must to survive the winter! I recently added this maxi-length down parka from Mackage into my winter wardrobe. I am always cold in general, so winter tends to feel extra extreme for me. I was happy with the Canada Goose Kensington parka (comfort zone down to -10°C/14°F) I got a few years ago, though I just needed something warmer and longer to cover my legs and to reduce the wind. The Canada Good Mystique was certainly an option. I needed something that had a comfort zone down to -30°C/-22°F; which both the Mackage Jada and Canada Goose Mystique provide. Overall, I liked the fit, hood, sheepskin shearling collar, length, aesthetic, and walkability in the Jada. What is your favorite and warmest winter staple? Stay warm!

eShakti jumpsuit

I was lucky to have another opportunity to create a piece of custom clothing with eShakti. They are an online women’s apparel company offering sizes 0-36W and custom clothing. I wanted to create something light and comfortable to wear on my vacation to Tulum, Mexico. I decided a sleeveless jumpsuit in lightweight denim was the way to go! I submitted my measurements and was able to specify sleeve length, neckline, hemline, and whether or not to add pockets. My experience with eShakti was great – easy to order and super convenient. I have a custom jumpsuit for my trip and the entire process from design to arriving at my doorstep took less than two weeks!

I love the relaxed vibes of summer – soaking up the sun and taking it easy! Dresses, shorts, and sandals have been my go-to this season. While keeping it pretty simple, I like to add a red lip to bring it all together. I was excited to add Rimmel London’s ‘Call the Shots’ lipstick into my summer makeup routine. It’s a matte finish and provides long-lasting color, both important to survive the summer heat. A win-win for any look!

And just like that, it’s summertime in Chicago! It’s been in the mid to upper 80s for the past week. Summer is my season – sandals, dresses, beaches, patios, etc. This breezy dress is perfect for this type of weather. It’s lightweight cotton and has just the right amount of lace for a flirty detail. I’m still growing out my hair, though it’s not long enough to pull back yet. So silk wraps and bobby pins are my go-to.

Overalls and jumpsuits are always a great choice for a casual and easy look. They’re versatile and super comfy – dress them up with heels or down with a tee and sneakers. It’s been cooler these past few weeks in Chicago, so I decided to wear a thinner turtleneck for a bit more warmth! To keep is simple and chic I went with a sleek backpack, slides and a red lip for a pop.

Volume and ruffles are trending this spring. While I’ve always loved volume and the interest it brings to a look, I haven’t worn too many frilly ruffles for quite some time. When I saw this oversized frilly sleeve on a ~~no doubt~~ black top a few weeks ago at Zara, I had to grab it! It’s an easy way to dress up jeans, or pair with black pants and heels for a night out. Also, these mules are super comfortable and also from Zara. You need them for spring and summer!

Jumpsuits are a favorite of mine – easy to dress up or down and always comfortable. This moto jumpsuit from Tobi has just the right amount of edge and street chic style. It’s perfect for Saturday night cocktails or Sunday brunch on a patio. It’s starting to feel like spring in Chicago and I couldn’t be happier! I’m loving all the trends happing now: oversized, off-the-shoulder fit, embroidery, and saturated hues to name a few. This shirt from Tobi is a stylish update to your everyday button-down. I like the relaxed, yet structured fit and longer length – it’s like wearing your husband’s shirt.
